Krisp is an application that can reduce background noise in a call. Background noise in video calls

 often makes it impossible to hold a conversation. There are practical ways to reduce noise during a call, but microphones tend to pick up noise from fans, power tools, etc. A quality microphone may be able to block out general noises from your surroundings, but you can't do much about it. Noise from outside, such as cars, people talking, phones ringing/vibrating, etc.

Download, install and run Krisp.

Access the app and log in.

Once logged in, it's a good idea to quit the app and launch it again until it's detected as an audio input and output device.

If you need to check the audio on your system and enable the app as an audio device.

After setting up the application

You will need to select it as the audio device in the app you plan to use to make calls. Krisp supports about 500 apps, so whatever you prefer to use, Krisp will likely work with it.

Open the app you want to use to make calls and go to its settings.

The audio options should allow you to select a microphone and speakers. For both, select Krisp.

Go back to Crisp settings and enable "Mute noise". Then, go ahead and start the call.

Is it really possible to reduce background noise in video calls?

Yes really. It reduces noise to a great extent. I tested it with a fan in the room. Without it, the microphone picked up so much noise, it sounded like I was calling from the beach. Once Crisp was enabled, the audio was almost completely silent. Since the app has a beta version, you will be able to try it out for yourself in all the settings where you make calls and see how it works for you.
